Fish Tale

When Blonde Girl's molly died,
Love Man and I picked up a dalmatian molly while we were out getting dog food.
The only reason selecting a fish for her would fly is because I said to Love Man,
"make her think you chose it as a gift for her."
She likes to choose her fish.
Evidently our choice was pregnant.
On Saturday, Blonde Girl noticed a baby fish swimming around in the tank.
I said, "we have to separate them or the mom will try to eat it".
The fish doctor and our child did not agree.
So, they went to the internet which confirmed my notion.
We moved the fish.
Blonde Girl immediately said, "we are going to need another bubbler."
I said, "well, there really isn't much room on your dresser for another fish tank,
maybe you could give this one to a friend."
"My baby fish!"
She did not like my idea.
Yesterday when my Colin was accepting his Academy Award another fish was born.
Love Man had a hard time catching it.
This one is tiny.
The mom was also trying to catch it.
That caused a bit of distress in our household.
He finally got it and put it with the older fish, Dotsun.
Dottina and Dotsun are happily chasing each other in a rose bud vase.
I will keep you posted if there are more births.
Apparently she can keep having these babies without a male and she can have around two per month.
Nice.
I guess we are in the market for a very small tank.
We now have 6 fish and one snail,
in case you are keeping track.
Two betas -one is Miss Brunette's,
three mollys,
one goldfish, won at a birthday party,
and one snail who keeps the mamma molly tank sparkling clean.

TGIF

Okay, confession, I still do not feel great.
I made it to work this week and all of my stuff.
Today, my throat hurts, ears hurt and I feel a bit blah.
I am very tired of this and want it to stop.

I think we are going to have cold weather again.
Our backyard looks bad and I wonder if it will rebound.
Things look a little dead to me.

I realized that we have two weeks until Spring Break!
I love Spring Break.
It is nearly the best.
You can have your SB and still be a home.
It is one of the perks about living in Arizona.

Shopping with the Man

I was shopping with the husband for Miss Brunette's birthday gift.
I said, "I think there are chairs over there that would work."
He left the line and went to look.
He came back and said "let's get it".
Off he goes to get the chair.
CRASH.
Everyone at the World Market turned to look.
"Was that you?"
"No, it wasn't me."
An employee wanting to make room for Love Man and the chair slid a bench over that
held 4 plus cases of wine and various bottles.
Love Man told him he could get through.
I guess the employee was trying to help.
OMG.
What a waste of wine.

Gone But Not Out

I have been sick all week.
I went to the doctor and am on an antibiotic.
But, I have been mostly in bed for a week.
I even missed two days of school!!!!!
Yesterday I picked Blonde Girl up at basketball practice and drove her to my friend's house who said she would get her to soccer with her daughter and bring her home to me.
Oh, I appreciated that.
I have not driven that far and wondered if I should do it.
I was then able to pick the other child up at play practice.
In the middle of all of this I was talking to another friend on my new phone which I didn't recognize the beep of caller ID.
It was the alarm company.
They phoned Love Man who told them to ignore it.
He said, "she just left, will be right back and has been sick all week. I'm sure didn't get the door to the garage shut tight."
This is exactly what I did.
This door is a glitch in our system.
When I returned two police cars were at our house.
They had not going the cancellation.
I explained the situation in my pajamas to one of the officers.
Guess what I was wearing?
Pink fuzzy crocs, long boxer pajamas, I Love Lucy flannel pajama top and NO MAKEUP whatsoever.
OMG.

A Highjacked Snack

I was the snack mom at Tuesday's basketball game.
I brought yellow gator-ade and bananas.
There are two teams at our school.
The first team's snack mom forgot the snack.
I could see her asking if anyone knew me.
She came up to me all wild-eyed and said,
"can I have your snack for this game and I will replace it with the same stuff?"
"Ummm, okay."
She was freaking out,
I don't think she would have taken no for an answer.
So, I gave her the snack and ended up serving it while she ran out for more.
She bought so many bananas.
In fact, we probably have 16 left at our house and I have pushed them all week.
If you come over to our house,
you will have to eat a banana.
Miss Brunette stacked them in the fruit bowl like the jenga game!

The Patterns

The girls have gone wild for Vera Bradley.

I am beginning to think, I need some of this.

This is Blonde Girl's pattern.

She loves it and only wants things in this pattern.

Miss Brunette has a bag and a sun glasses case in this pattern.

She also has things in other patterns.
She feels that she doesn't have to be all matched or matchy matchy as she calls it.

It makes it easy to buy gifts. That is for sure. And, they are thrilled to get it.

Only Vera will Do

The girls are wild for Vera Bradley.
Seriously,
for things like holidays,
it is easier to go to Vera and be done.
It saves buying a bunch of junk.
Miss B loves the Baroque pattern and Blonde Girl likes something but it is purple paisley. . . .

Holding Pattern

Blonde Girl has pink eye.
We hung out today.
I had tons to do today and got most of it done.
It was nice to be home.

Go Griz

Did I tell you that last weekend we went to Flagstaff to see the University of Montana play Northern Arizona University (NAU)?
If you have ever been in Love Man's presence,
you will know that he loves the Grizzlies.

We arrived earlier in the afternoon.
The girls wanted to go to this one shop.
They sell soap, hair things, aprons - you get the picture.
Love Man went along with it.
I said to him, "here you are looking at soap with us and if you were with your friends,
you'd be at a bar having a beer".
"I live in the house of Barbie".

We had dinner at this Mexican restaurant called San Felipe.
He got his beer and it was half price as it was happy hour.
I love a deal.

We headed over to the dome and parked the car.
Miss B, who is like my mother with directions,
thought we should go the other way.
She saw some cars turning into another lot.
We walked up to the dome and it is closed and boarded up.
We then wandered through the campus and asked some college students walking somewhere,
"where is the basketball game tonight?"
One of them, I swear to God, said "we play basketball???"
OMG.

We ran into two other guys and they said to follow them to the game.
They explained that the dome had been damaged in a storm and was closed for repairs.
The game was to be held in the practice facility.
Okay, the web site should have said that.
And, there should have been some signs indicating the change!
We got to the game and the makeshift box office.
I am in line.
Cash only.
Another fun fact that would have been a good feature on the website.
Cash???
For some miracle, I had $40 on me.
I told Love Man, "I will get your three tickets, walk to the car (if I could find it as I didn't leave breadcrumbs) and go to an ATM.
By this time the nearly 900 seat facility was almost sold out.
I scrounged around and found 75 cents in my wallet and purse.
I was literally $1.25 short.
Some guy said, "how much do you need?" and gave me a dollar.
Another nice lady gave me a quarter.
We all thanked them profusely.
They were our best friends forever (BFFs).

We get our tickets and headed into the game.
Guess what?
Remember when I said, "I'll just buy three tickets"?
That is right.
We got three tickets for the price of four.
By now Love Man is annoyed,
he pounded on the door and demanded the other ticket.

We missed the very beginning,
but sat in the Griz section among his people.
All was right with the world.

Another memory of the eccentric parents two good looking girls have . . . .
but I am not naming names.

My Vida Loca

Hello!
This week has been a tad busy.
You know the usual - conferences, bunco, Mom's Night, soccer practice, first aid training, play practice, subbing, and now I have a sick child.

BG's tummy hurts and she has a sore throat.
I rented some movie about a fairy for her.
God only knows!!
It had apparently been recorded on our DVR and was erased by Miss B.

Today of all days, is not the day for me to miss.
We are in ardent preparation for the Rainbow Room, Girl's Night Out,
which is tonight.

In fact yesterday I cut out and baked about 70 heart and lip shaped cookies.
Don't judge me about the lips, it is cute.

In between picking up BG at basketball and getting her to soccer,
I journeyed to the Home Depot for two flats of petunias and potting soil.
Yesterday we painted pots in class and today we are planting the flowers.
I have to buy two flats, because not all petunias have a flower and every child wants their mom to have the pot with a flower.

I am going back to help this afternoon.
And, I schelped my stuff up there this morning.
My school is up the hill and nestled beside a mountain.
So, when I say, I go up to school -
I mean up.
My car was full with juice boxes and water for tonight, petunias, potting soil and the cookies.
I looked like one of those people in a car commercial.

The Journey

We have had very cold weather for Phoenix.
Not only freeze warning, but we have had hard frost warnings.
I am concerned about our honeysuckle bushes and a tree.
But, what can you do?
We have lost trees in the past due to cold weather.

We did not walk to school yesterday.
It was 30 degrees with a windchill of 18 and 30 mph winds.
We drove.
Or, should I say Neighbor Meggan drove.
It took several texts back and forth to make the decision to drive.

Miss Brunette was FINE with it.
Absolutely fine.
Today,
she is on a field trip outside nearly all day.
Her basketball game was re-scheduled.
I am not sure of the reason,
but it was not because of the weather.
Miss Brunette is going to be sooooo happy that I pick her up from school.
She was to walk home.
