And So it Goes

Well, if you can believe it, one of our neighbors had a police woman costume and Miss B wore to to the concert last night. It was a tad nutty. Everything for us is the same day. Miss B went to basketball practice until I picked her up early, 4:00 p.m. She, then, proceeded to get ready for Junior Assembly were she and her partner, Miles, won for best rock dance. I drove her then to her concert which was 60s and 70s themed. OMG.

I just got back from her basketball game. She stayed for the second, as there are two teams. She will scooter home with our neighbor girl and buddy.

P.S.

I knew about the concert and the songs, but not the costumes. We will find something around this house for the event. I am buying nothing. And, I mean it.

This Just In

I just found out BG needs to have a 60s themed costume and dress as one of the Village People,
she has opted for the Police Man. OMG. That concert event is next Monday. Really?

It's All Greek To Me

Last week for Blonde Girl it was this major project. She had to read a 300 + page book (which she did over the break), write a speech and do a diorama. I have photos of the diorama and I will post them soon.

This week it was Greek and Roman Week. On Wednesday, she went to school in a toga. I
bought a white sheet at the Good Will, as Miss Brunette former toga has been retro-fitted into a Halloween ghost complete with eyes. I did keep these gold ropey swags and gold stars for
hair deco. Thank God.

I washed the sheet and proceeded to dye it purple. Naturally, they were out of purple dye but as
preschool teacher I really do get and understand the concept of making colors. I bought a box of red dye and a box of blue dye. Red and blue make purple. Voila.

The sheet was purple. Miss Brunette said, " can you do it again and make it darker."
"No," was my answer.

There was a sign-up sheet that went home during the previous week. There were all kinds of things for you to sign-up for. Hummus. Silverware. Lavash (which I had the joy of providing for Blonde Girl, I had to google it to figure out what it was. Flat bread, available at Safeway).

I stupidly wrote. I will provide whatever you need. Miss Brunette said, "you can't just write that, you have to circle something." So, I circled knives and forks for forty.

All last weekend, I wondered what I needed to provide. Monday night I said, "I never did find out what I need to buy. Go get your sheet." I was SHOCKED when I discovered I was to provide baklava. Baklava!

You know what it is. The dessert that is baked with phyllo dough and honey. OMG. I jumped up and started wondering how many pieces I needed and where I was going to get it. Then,
I thought of this restaurant that we have been to before called Greek Town. I called them and they said they would make an extra tray for me. I said, "I am not sure if I need 24 or 40 pieces.
I will call you after I hear from the teacher." She did call, I needed 32 pieces. Then, there was a new student. I ordered 37 pieces.

We picked it up and it was a hit. He cut smallish pieces and put them in cupcake liners.
Really, considering the trouble, the owner of this restaurant could not have been nicer. He even gave me a small box of baklava for my family. I love him.

Miss Brunette told her teacher she thought it was from Greek City or something like that and that he gave it to us. It was not free.

LOL

Yesterday, was Pajama Day in my preschool class. Naturally, I wore them to work and did not change. I even popped in Circle K for a soda!

There is a girl in our class who is allergic to milk and soy. We were having popcorn. The kind we use has milk in it. We just pop the microwave kind a school, something I NEVER do at home.
I am strictly a popcorn popper while oil and Orville.

I said to her, "you can either have the pretzels your mom sent for snack or dried cranberries."

She said, "I'll have the dried up cranberries."

And, she did and asked for seconds.

Yesterday

I re-read yesterday's post and it did not make much sense. Evidently, I was overcome by the splendor of Season Two of "Downtown Abbey".

I am counting the days until Sunday!

Almost Ready to Go Back

Blonde Girl starts back to school tomorrow. She has been reading a book for her project due later this week for the entire break. We worked it out that she had to read two chapters per day or she would not be done. She did her speech today and is presently working on her diorama.

Miss B and I painted three walls of her room Supposedly gold, but looks yellow to me. I think it looks good.

Love Man and I helped the workers. I folded my clothes early today as I knew there would be NO TIME to do them.

We are preparing for a busy week ahead.

Miss B does not have school until Tuesday, when I return to the little ones for our Pajama Day!

Still Coughing

I still have a terrible cough. And, now Blonde Girl is coughing and blowing her nose like crazy.

It probably did not help that we went out on Lake Pleasant yesterday. But, it was fun.

I was talking to my mom last night. She said, "if you put Vick's Vapor Rub on the bottoms of your feet, you won't cough at night." I thought it sounded crazy and a kin to putting Windex on everything from the movie, "My Big, Fat Greek Wedding."

We did it and it worked. I did not cough my brains out for the first time in several days.

Love Man feels it is psychological. But, both BG and I had a good night's sleep.
