Weekend Update

We pretty much kept to ourselves this weekend.
Love Man and I watched "The Social Network".
It was good.
We also went to see "The King's Speech".
I saw it with Mrs. W previously.
But, Love Man had not seen it yet.
It was even better the second time around.
Two weekends ago, we were trying to figure out which flicks to see.
LM was trying his best to fit "The King's Speech" into the schedule.
All for me.
I finally had to fess up.
"Okay, I saw it already. I didn't want to hurt your feelings."
In fact, I cheated on him with a movie and tried to keep it quiet.
It didn't work.
He kept teasing me about it.
But, in the end it all worked out.

Ode to Carbination

Have I mentioned that I am not drinking as much Dr. Diet Pepper?
I am down to about 2 - 3 per week.
I usually have one on Sunday and Friday, with a desperate cheat mid-week.
The rest of the time,
I am drinking iced tea.

I make hot tea in the mornings in the winter,
but I have always done that.

I love it the tea.
It is a blend Typhoo and a mint sweetened with stivia.
It is awesome.
I even bring it with me to school.

I still ardently love and admire Diet Dr. Pepper,
but I am happy with my tea.

And On and On

Yesterday was a delightful day.

I walked youngest girl to school with dogs and oldest girl,
insert Neighbor Meggan, her children and random neighbor kids.
I got oldest girl to school,
went to work.
Worked.
Then,
had a mandatory training session.
I got trained for two blinking hours.
Then, prepped for "Guy's Night".
I left work just in time to pick up Miss B.
I picked up oldest girl and had a Diet Dr. Pepper as I was going to die.
Miss Brunette and I went to youngest girl's basketball game.
I left at half-time and threw on nicer clothes for "Guy's Night".
You might as well know that I drove to school with curlers in my hair.
It was either that or have flat, dead hair or be late.
I somehow managed to look nice.
Dad's Night went well.
I stopped at grocery store on the way home.
Then, I mulled around house with very little focus.
I went to bed watching the sanitized version of "Sex in the City".
I woke up this morning because my stomach was growling.
I mostly ate cookies and nothing much else yesterday.
My teaching partner had even less food for the day.
We discussed this.

After the game, Miss B and Blonde Girl had to walk home.
Love Man tried to make it to the game,
but it didn't happen.
He had dropped of printed materials for me.
Remember that my computer is not working.
He then drove down our street and collected the girls who were schelping their way home.

All in all, it went like clockwork.

Ta Da

I have had a terrible time trying to post this week.
My computer is not working with or on the internet.
Hopefully,
Love Man can get it going.
We did manage to back-up the preschool stuff.

It has been a busy, crazy week.

Blonde Girl was great in the basketball game on Tuesday.
She even made a basket!
It was beautiful.
Swish!
I yelled, "oh, my God!"
I did,
really loud.
in my defense,
I had never seen her make a basket.
In fact,
I really had never seen her play basketball.
She suddenly announced,
one day,
"I am going to try out for basketball."
"Umm, really?"
She did.
She did not make the team.
She became the manager.
The coach was nice and let the managers practice sometimes with the team.
One of the players moved.
Next thing you know,
Miss Thing was in.
She is delighted with the whole turn of events.

Is it Only Tuesday

h

What's Next

I have already walked the nearly one mile to Blonde Girl's school.
Naturally,
the dogs go and we also walk with Neighbor Meggan and her two children.
We routinely make a spectacles out of ourselves.
I mean, two moms, four children and three dogs.
When it is cold in the morning,
Sam refuses to walk and has lately taken to riding inside of Meggan's jacket.
LOL.
Former and current preschoolers wave wildly at us.
I get asked while shopping at the grocery store,
"now which dogs are yours and which ones are Meggan's?"
Miss Brunette walks with us mostly everyday.
Sometimes, if her hair is in hot rollers, she skips it.
When we got home today,
the Romanian counter top guys were waiting.
They were supposed to be here between 8:30 and 9:00.
I have a crack in my counter top.
At installation,
it was not supported correctly.
I wanted a new one,
but must have used all my mojo trying to get a new tile roof.
They are repairing it and resanding all of the counter tops.
I wasn't ready for them.
But, cleared the counter tops in a flash.
Blonde Girl has an away basketball game.
Miss Brunette has a show choir district concert.
I am thrilled I was not called to sub today.
I am living the dream.

Live From the Front

Hello,
we had a nice weekend.
Blonde Girl and the team won their soccer game.
Blue Thunder is hot!
Love Man and Blonde Girl went to "Tron".
Yes, I previously reported we were going to "Tron",
but it never happened.
I was lucky enough to see two movies this weekend,
"The King's Speech" and "No Strings Attached".
"The King's Speeech" was incredible.
I have to see it again.
I also saw "No Strings Attached" and that was funny.
The girls went to Sunday school/confirmation.
Miss Brunette and I later went to NCL.
I also had time to do a bit of organizing and grocery shopping.
What are you having tonight for dinner?
I just put a meat loaf in the oven.
We are also going to have mashed potatoes.
Doesn't that sound good?
I have not made meat loaf in ages.

Frantic Friday

I have been running around a lot lately taking two girls from one thing to another.
Today,
the plumber was here.
We have a leak under our sink.
He will be back as we need a new faucet.
Which I think is covered under our advanced home warranty.
He is checking.
It is cold today.
I think there was a bit of a freeze.
The lime tree does not look too good on the north side.
The rest looks fine.
My computer is still screwed up.
Love Man fired up his laptop for moi.
It really was his best move as this mess is his fault.
We are getting a completely new tile roof.
I have to talk to some more roofers/general contractors.
UGGH.

The Lights are Out

About five minutes before school began, the electricity went out.
It remained so all day.
The directors did not call school off.
They seemed shocked that we would suggest that school be cancelled.
But, it was okay.
In fact, no parent from our class took their child home.
We opened up our glass door,
which is covered with tint,
and let the sunshine in.
I think the kids thought it was fun.
One girl who brought a wand for sharing asked that we turn the lights out.
"Um, they are already off."
"Could you make it darker?" she asked.
I shut the door and she turned the wand on.
I think it was a pretty memorable day.
The day we had school in the dark.

Day is the Day

Today is the first basketball game.
OMG.
Blonde Girl is very excited.
We have basketball shoes and padded socks for her to wear.
I hope we can handle this level of excitement.

Sunday, Sunday

We are heading out to do a bit of shopping.
The girls need some things.
I can also report Blonde Girl is on the basketball team.
She is very pleased.

In Other Blog Business

I keep forgetting to tell you that Mrs. W and I attempted to see Ina Garten at Sur la Table.
I am so sad to report that the line snaked completely around Kierland Commons.
We never would have gotten in to see her.
And, the cookbook was sold out.
Sad but true.

I do love the Barefoot Contessa and she and my friend Mrs. C closely resemble each other.
It is a tad unnerving.

Guessing Game

Guess where I went last night?
Future Freshman!
It was Future Freshman Night.
OMG.
Where did the time go?

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Oh and By the Way

Mrs. W and I saw the most appalling Christmas sweater on Sunday.
It had some kind of gingerbread house on it.
OMG.
It was bad.
And, I would like to say:
hello, the wise men have come to see baby Jesus already.
It is after the Epiphany already.
Just say NO to the sweater.

Technical Difficulties

My computer has not been working very well.
Love Man's had a virus and he ran something on it to fix the problem.
He then began all of the same things on mine.
As a result,
my computer is barely working.
OMG.
I am a bit lost without it.

We are good.
The girls had good report cards and are still working hard.
Blonde Girl is finishing her "Student of the Week" poster and Miss B. just typed up a project for her group.

I hope you watched Masterpiece Theater "Downtown Abbey".
It was fabulous.
I watched it Sunday night and rewatched parts Monday.
I do love my DVR.

TTYL.

The Latest

Hello, sorry it has taken me so long to post.
We are all well.
The girls had an exhausting first week back at school.
In fact, we were all knackered by Friday night.
Soccer was a bye week,
which was like music to my ears.
I got the trees down and watched "I am Love",
which was good.
We have just returned from church.
Where I so NO less than 6 of my preschool friends!
That was funny.
I think we are going to "Tron".
I mean Love Man and Blonde Girl.
Miss B and I are going to something else.
I am not a huge fan of the action genre.

Nocturnal Nightmare

That dog in that picture who is
normally great, except for the bolting part, was a nightmare last night.
She had to go OUT about five times.
Whined at the door until I or LM got up.
Love Man and I took turns.
When it comes to bedtime,
she is normally out for the count.
I do NOT know what her problem was.
Hopefully she has recovered.
She was very sleepy when we got back from walk to school.
Luckily for her, she does not have a job.

The Lights are On

I can report that Miss Brunette is in the upcoming musical at MSJH.
She is an umpaloompa.
I guess that is how you spell umpaloompa.
Whatever.
Are the umpaloompa police going to come after me???????
She will have tons of rehearsals and
the extravagandza is at the end of April.

Deep Freeze

Phoenix has had three crazy nights of freeze warnings.
Temperatures dipped in the twenties through the nights and my plants look burnt.
It is sad.
We covered most of the tender plants up with old sheets.
But, there has been damage.
Our trees are fine.
I did pick all of the oranges and some of the lemons.
I do not like cold weather.
I do not like cold weather.

De-Christmas

I am not one of these people who take down the Christmas deco on the afternoon of the 25th.
It is a process,
but I have begun the de-Christmasing.

The trees are still up.
The village says up all year long.
The snowmen hang around the house until February.

But,
I took down all the other Christmas stuff, the outside decorations and changed the dishes out.

The Spode is packed away and we are all happy to see the everyday dishes again.

Yes, we are a tad crazy.

Happy New Year

Well, it is time for a new decade,
which is fine with me.
Off with the old, in with the new.
We are all good.
Went to see movies yesterday.
Love Man and I saw "True Grit".
The girls plus a friend saw "Gulliver's Travels".
We want to see more.
Blonde Girl saw "Yogi Bear" with another friend.
We can give a thumb's up for all of these movies.
But, be advised, the girls like most of the movies they see.
